Size the video and position it roughly where you need it to be. (Nearly) instant moving textured masks!Īnd a final, truly simple approach that might give you all that you need without leaving Avid: Drop a resize effect onto your video insert layer (not a PIP). Drop you fill video into the matte fill layer on that. On top of that place another copy of your moving mask slightly offset in time and slightly reduced in size. Then all you do is grab your prebuilt moving shape, and drop your moving texture into the matte fill layer. I used After Effects to create a series of soft animated shapes and textures. One thing also to be aware of using BLKDOG's approach is that you can resize your matte and the insert video will also resize to follow. That's a good technique, and with a little thought can be adapted to give soft coloured edges.
